Our clients are the heart and soul of what we do. Without their confidence and trust, Galileo would not exist.
The Freddie Mac Foundation. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of mortgage giant Freddie Mac. Since 2007, Galileo has supported the Foundation’s efforts to assist disadvantaged persons living in affordable housing communities. Specifically, the Foundation retained us to develop and then assist with the implementation of a health and fitness plan for the residents of affordable housing communities.
The
ground-breaking project has multiple phases, including an extensive research and
development phase comprised of a review of the health education and health promotion
literature and interviews with leading academic experts. During 2008 and 2009,
Galileo has, at the Foundation’s direction, assisted with implementation of the
plan, in New Orleans, as well as three affordable housing communities in the Washington,
D.C. metro area. The implementation process is ongoing, as are assessment efforts
to measure the impact of the program on the quality of life of community residents.

The Baltimore Life Companies. The Baltimore Life Companies are based in Owings Mills, employing approximately 150 persons at that home office site. The company is financially sound (B++) and is one of the oldest mutual life insurance companies in the US. The company prides itself on its close-knit, highly supportive environment for its employees.
Since 2007, Galileo coaches have provided health education and then coaching services to employees at the home office and field employees with sufficient years of service. Evolving from periodic health education programs to full-fledged coaching, Galileo’s services have been enthusiastically received by employees and senior management alike.
Galileo’s work at the Baltimore Life Companies has earned Baltimore Life the designation of a “Fit Friendly” company from the American Heart Association. The Fit Friendly award signifies that the company has a fitness program in place that meets specific standards, helps guide employees toward better lifestyle choices, and that the company’s senior leadership fully supports the program. The
Howard County Police Department. Since 2006, the HCPD has engaged Galileo
to provide physical activity and nutrition education to four types of law enforcement
professionals:
- Active, uniformed officers
- Lateral transfer officers – these are officers coming into the HCPD from another police agency
- Police academy recruits
- Civilian staff, including 911 call center operators and all other administrative and support personnel
Galileo’s work at the HCPD has the respect of both the rank and file officers and the command staff for the quality of instruction provided.
Galileo also provides an ongoing pro bono service to the department, running a voluntary fitness education program for a small group of officers and support personnel who are interested in more detailed education. Visit the HCPD at www.howardcountymaryland.gov/Police/Police_HomePage.htm.
The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Since 2006, Galileo has worked under the leadership of the Assistant Dean for MBA Programs, Michael Marcellino, to educate MBA candidates at Smith about the issues of health care costs, employee fitness, and personal and workplace leadership on these matters. Lectures occur throughout the academic year and are attended by MBA candidates at Smith’s main location on the College Park campus, as well as satellite locations in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Shady Grove.
Smith is a leader in offering this type of instruction to its students. Visit Smith’s website at www.rhsmith.umd.edu.
